The Gateway to
Education Scholarship Assistance Program will:
- Provide an incentive
for high school students to remain in school and upgrade their academic
competency levels prior to graduation, particularly with reference
to basic literacy requirements in mathematics, writing and reading,
and to graduate.
- Make education
and workforce development training the major focus of economic and
community development initiatives.
- Build upon the
existing partnerships within Alexander City to provide the unique
opportunity for every BRHS graduate eligible for the program to attend
Central Alabama Community College.
- Provide an educated
and well-qualifies workforce.
- Increase existing
business and industry expansion and attract new business and industry.
- Increase public
awareness of the value of attaining a higher level of education to
the economic well being of the region.
- Reduce the number
of young persons leaving the region.
- Increase access
to higher education.
- Increase parental
/ guardian involvement in their child's / children education.
- As our community,
state and nation embrace the new No Child Left Behind legislation,
Alexander City can support each child, not only through high school
but also through college.
